Module 06: Google Drawings Activity
An important skill to have in Project Management is the ability to create visual representations of project requirements, work breakdown, and other processes in different ways. One way is to use diagrams. There are many types of diagrams; including activity diagrams, mind maps, process diagrams, use case diagrams, and wireframes. There are many tools that can be used for diagramming and they may vary depending on where you land a job. Throughout the boot camp you will use Google Drawings for diagramming activities.
Activity
In this activity you are going to use Google Drawings to create a mind map. Mind maps are a great way to organize ideas and thoughts and see how they relate to each other. The mind map we are going to focus on is a plan that will facilitate you successfully graduating from the boot camp. With a mind map, you start with your main concept in the center and add “branches” coming off of it with subtopics related to your main concept (see sample mind map below). You can add some of your personal style to the mind map by including images or colors. It is YOUR mind map, so make it your own.
Instructions
- Search “Google drawings” in your Chrome search bar
- Click on Google Drawings to open (it should be the first item that shows up in your search results)
- You may want to bookmark this page for easy access
- Create your mind map using the “Shape” and “Line” tools found in the Insert dropdown on the menu bar
- When finished, move your mind map from your drive to your Pre-Work folder in your Boot Camp folder by right clicking and selecting “Move to”
- Right click again and click “Share”
- Change setting to “Anyone with the link” can view
Your mind map might include activities like:
Main Concept: Successfully Graduating Boot Camp
- Branch: Study technique
- Study 1-2 hours every other day
- Study with a classmate for accountability
- Use flashcards for vocabulary words
- Branch: Create a daily routine
- Use a calendar to schedule meals, workout times, work hours, study time
- Branch: Career Preparation

Add any other subtopics that you feel will help you get to the end of boot camp and successfully graduate. There are no right or wrong answers to this.
